Prof. (Dr.) S. Mohan Kumar is an accomplished academician with extensive experience in teaching, research, administration, and institutional leadership. He has served as Senior Professor, Scientist, Dean, Director, Chair Professor at the Directorate of Research and Innovation, and Head of Centre of Excellence.
He supervises Ph.D., post-doctoral, and D.Sc. scholars, contributing significantly to research capacity building and mentoring. His leadership extends across academic administration, institutional quality assurance, and strategic initiatives in ranking and accreditation frameworks.
He is a Microsoft Certified Professional in SQL Server, completed a Technical Proficiency course at IISc Bangalore, and has successfully completed multiple NPTEL/SWAYAM courses. His international collaborations span Spain, Portugal, Russia, Germany, Thailand, Singapore, Israel, Hong Kong, and Tokyo, strengthening global partnerships and knowledge exchange.
Prof. Kumar has supervised numerous doctoral scholars whose work has received best paper awards and research recognitions at national and international events. He has acted as Doctoral Research Committee member for several Ph.D. scholars, external examiner for Ph.D. and postdoctoral D.Sc. theses, and viva voce member for a large number of doctoral defences.
His research portfolio includes R&D grants exceeding ₹54,70,000, authorship of technical books and book chapters, multiple international and Indian patent grants, and more than 140 research and review publications. His work appears in Scopus, SCI, UGC, IEEE, Springer, and Web of Science indexed venues, with a strong citation and impact profile.
He has organized and supported international conferences, serves as reviewer, editor, and advisory member for reputed journals and conferences, and continually promotes a culture of research, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
As Senior Professor and Educational Consultant, Prof. Kumar has guided higher education institutions in obtaining and sustaining NAAC, NBA, ISO, ARIIA, QS, NIRF, and other recognitions. He is a Certified Lead Auditor (IRCA-approved) for ISO 9001:2015 QMS and holds certifications in ISO 14001:2015, ISO 22000:2018, and ISO 27001:2013.
As Dean of Quality Assurance and Director of Research & Innovation, he has contributed to:
- Securing IIC star ratings and innovation ecosystem recognition.
- Achieving NAAC A+ accreditation and NBA accreditation for multiple programs.
- Publishing books and book chapters, and significantly increasing patent filings and grants.
- Enabling substantial growth in Ph.D. admissions across diverse disciplines.
- Establishing Centres of Excellence and introducing robust research regulations and policies.
He has organized numerous national-level webinars and capacity-building programmes on IPR, outcome-based education, accreditation, NEP 2020, data science, design thinking, cloud and edge computing, and academic quality enhancement.
